The Summer Residency 2012 ran from 31st July – 19th August. For the first time, the North Wall had two projects running alongside each other simultaneously – Dead On Her Feet, our first foray into producing, and Crash, in which twelve actors and two young writers worked alongside three established theatre practitioners (Royal Court young writer Tom Wainwright, North Wall Artistic Director Lucy Maycock and Christoper Sivertsen, Artistic Director of Awake Project) to produce a response to Dead On Her Feet.
In August 2011, The North Wall hosted a three week residency for fifteen talented young actors, designers and technicians, aged between 17 and 24, who won a place on the project after a series of national auditions. The ensemble were led by all six members of the Awake Team, headed up by Christopher Sivertsen, artistic director and founder of Awake Project, working in collaboration with Lucy Maycock, the Artistic Director of The North Wall and dramaturge on the project.
In April 2011, fifteen young dancers aged between 16-25 were selected from national auditions to participate in Dance at the Wall, a project that offered dancers the opportunity to expand on their formal training by experiencing the process of creating, rehearsing and performing new work, under the tutelage of industry professionals.
In October 2010, The North Wall joined forces with the prestigious Actors’ Touring Company ATC to deliver a week-long outreach project to fourteen talented young actors, designers and technicians from Oxfordshire….
The North Wall’s second annual Summer School ran from July 30th to August 20th. Directed by Lucy Maycock and Dan Danson, former Artistic Director at the Tobacco Factory, Bristol. They were supported by a professional team of designers and technicians, and the company consisted of twenty 16-21 year olds, drawn from all parts of the country and abroad following extensive auditions in Oxford and London…..
The first North Wall Summer School ran from August 1 – 22, 2007, and was generously sponsored by the Garfield Weston Foundation. It was directed by Edward Kemp, Artistic Director of rada, and Lucy Maycock, assisted by a professional staff of theatre technicians and designers. The auditions were advertised nationally in secondary schools, and as a result a company of 17 was formed, drawn from all parts of the UK….
